Design systems can be a lot to handle, it's even harder to pull it off as a solo designer. Is it even possible? Well, here is my experience - my wins and where I failed as well.
It was an iterative process - the first iteration of Hermes 2.0 was done within a month - component library and docs. 1.0 took about the same time period as well but iterations spread across months
Coming back from work to read this article is so soothing and I got a lot of value from it. I'm super proud of the work you did here and most especially sharing tips for us to learn from. Thanks a lot and I wish you the best this year.
Hello Michael, this was a very interesting and motivating read, you basically showed how designers can put on the multiple hats and take on roles beyond their responsibility just to see the progress of the product you are building.
I learnt new things as well e.g the see and do tip. And would be taking courses on how to properly build a design system.
P.s was already looking for ways to upskill as a baby designer and you showed that in your write up.
I honestly found your profile and articles at the exact right time I needed them. Thank you for sharing such a detailed process, and all the best with your job search.
P.S. I sent you a DM on Twitter and I'm hoping you'd respond.
This is incredible work.

Thank you 🙌🏾
Awesome post. This is an excellent example of the behind-the-scenes work that's so important but most people never see.
